Art journal #13 – Super Power

I’m back from a 4 day road trip. Had lots of fun and clicked a gazillion in the process of sorting them out and sharing the good ones..mostly on Instagram.

American Crafts – Amy Tan Finders Keepers stamp set

I felt grateful for the magic that was camera…it helps us freeze time and keep it not just for us, but for generations to come. I decided to share this art journal layout which I created a few months ago when I was no where close to the idea of blogging.

I painted the background a bright yellow using water colors. Then used the ‘Mini Butterfly Collage’ stencil from The Crafters Workshop®, the blueprint stamp set from Tim Holtz® (for the cameras) and a stamp set from Amy Tangerine® . Used some caps lying around to make the green and red circles.soumyanambiar_camera_3The camera in the center is hand drawn. Used some modeling paste from Faber Castell®, turned it yellow using Faber Castell® Gel sticks and stenciled the ‘rays’ and ‘circle’ pattern with more stencils for the raised effect. I love doing this coz the texture makes the layout feel great when you move your hands across the page!

soumyanambiar_camera_2The alphabets were stamped using Tim Holtz® ‘Cling mounted rubber stamp set – Mini worn Text’ and regular alphabet rubber stamps that comes in a wooden box.

With a black Sharpie®, I drew a free hand border and gave it a white outline to frame the layout. Below is the final look.

Hope you liked the layout and got inspired to come up with something on your own. I would like to enter this page to the following challenges:

Bye! 🙂

  1. I love everything about this layout! I really liked the concept and humor and wit that you incorporated with the idea of photography being a super power. And you’re right! It really is a magical thing to be able to capture a moment in time that will last indefinitely. You made a beautiful concept even more stunning with your whimsical and sophisticated artwork. I thought your hand-drawn camera was amazing and the whole thing came together perfectly! I thoroughly enjoyed this post and am so glad you shared your talents (art seems to be one of your super powers!) with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!
